Default 944 2,7L

Hello guys,

can you tell me something about 944 with 2,7L engine? Is it good or is it problematic?

I can't find any for sale so what would do think they are worth on the market in the EU?

Mostly good for the head which is sought after by the S2/968 crowd to use for turbo conversion.

They're more or less identical in terms of maintenance and reliability to the 2.5 models.

The increased displacement gave it a healthy dose of much needed additional torque, overall power is about the same.

A follow up. How can you tell the difference visually of a 2.7 vs a 2.5 head?

With the head:

On the block - the 2.7 has only one bolt passing through the head under the water elbow whereas the 2.5 has two bolts at that location.

Off the block - the 2.7 has visually larger intake valves than the 2.5.

And I happen to have one that's been professionally rebuilt I bought for exactly that purpose.

Then, lo and behold, I discovered there wasn't an immediate need to put an 8 valve head on a 16 valve 3L S2 engine unless you want to go crazy fast, like 450 bhp fast. Really F'n fast. I sort of fell in love with the torque I already had with the 3.0L. So now I have this immaculate 8V 2.7L head complete with a set of sodium filled 951 exhaust valves (not installed yet) that I'll likely never use.

Reasonable offers accepted...
