Rear wheel bearing choices , late 944 Turbo
I`m currently collecting all the parts to completely rebuild the suspension, 87 944 Turbo . I see there are two different bearings offered to fit the late turbo arms , SKF and *** bearings . Are the SKF bearings really worth double the cost of the *** bearings ? My car will see track days and I don`t expect the bearings to last forever . This is something the guys that track these cars all the time should be able to answer ,,,,, I hope . Thanks for any feedback .

Both are probably fine. I have *** rear wheel bearings, on the early 944s there are inner/outer. One was made in India and the other in South Korea. The only QAC issue I've heard of is *** bearings made in France.

As long as you can verify that they are not fakes*, there shouldn't be much of a difference between the two.
*(Make sure you're buying from a reputable source that doesn't have China anywhere near the procurement process)

I was looking through Paragons site . I`m not building a full time track car , I just don`t want to have to replace bearings during the spring , summer and fall seasons . I have read where some people only get a 3 or 4 track days out of a set of bearings , I find that hard to believe , but I just needed to ask .

3-4 track days...., on rear wheel bearings....?
I'd like to know where these guys are racing...
Got 3 years on fresh 944 built tub so far on rears, fronts, meh, we change 'em once a year.
Front of the field 944 on R7 Hoosier.
Go with either brand from Paragon, you'll be fine.
Other country original SKF and *** transmission bearings I use measure same as factory German made, indistinguishable.

No problem.
At 10 years competitive racing, we have NEVER had a rear wheel bearing failure.
One instance of a front bearing failure in all that duration.
I carry two new bearing/seal preloaded hubs as spares just for that reason.
Car in question was ready for next session in 15 minutes.
We repack front bearings with every front pad change and replace the front bearings and races at each rotor replacement interval.
While rotating or changing tire sets during the course of a track day between sessions, we check for bearing play, remove dust cap and adjust load if necessary.

I bought a set of *** bearings, nuts, etc. for the 88S a few years ago from Paragon. They've been sitting on a shelf since. How does 30% off what paragon is getting and i'll pick up the first $10 of shipping? PM me if interested.
