Default a few questions . . .

What are the 944 n/a's supposed to be idling at? Also, on take off the car kind of stalls, and then picks up again. I had the same problem with my carburated motorcycle (an older GSXR conversion monster thing) a few years ago. The problem there was just jetting. What would cause this with fuel injection? A friend of mine said it was probably the AFM, and that it was bad. Would this be a symptom of a bad AFM? Typically this hesitation only occurs under hard acceleration from a dead stop or very low speed (below 10 mph). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My next question. Is there any way to adjust the idle speed on these cars?

The stabilizer valve.

Searching for the cause of high idle is a serious PITA.

I'm going to check my vacuum lines on Monday (yay, sounds like disneyland but half the fun) after I put in my new stereo (yay, music after 6 months almost to the day of it being stolen). I just replaced a bunch of these lines and intake boot. Also cleaned the throttle body when I was there. I'll post and you know the results.

Kinda off topic . . . does anyone know of a way to rid our cars of that awful shudder without spending a bunch of money on chips and boards and all that stuff? I'm not a cheap person, just ran into a lot of bills this past month (my little bro's school, rent, insurance, rental car while mine was being fixed and half painted (thank you mister "sorry I bumped you, here's my phone number but I'll claim to not know what you are talking about"), etc. If the board and EPROM are the only way, does anyone know where to get them for less money?

I almost forgot . . . How do I adjust the idle speed? Is it the screw on the throttle body? Fuel injection is new to me. All of my other vehicles (2 wheel and 4 wheel) are all older, carbureted motors.

What year 944? If you fiddled with the vacuum lines you may not have them back on correctly.

I agree with SoCal. It should be around 900 warm, higher when cold.

It's an '84 n/a.
I checked the lines that I replaced this morning (I only replaced 2 lines since they were cracked when I bought the car) and they seem to be fine. When I leave the office tonight I will check the other vacuum lines as well. Let's say thats not the problem though, how would I go about adjusting the idle? I'll check a little later tonight and get back to you about it. Hopefully it's not too dark.
