Here's mine, it's on a cut-down STOCK shaft with a round-to-rectangular bushing in between.

PowPow, I'm liking your shifter very much, but I bet the **** cost like $80. I have to replace my old shift boot too, I might as well replace the shift **** while I'm doing it though.

How bad is the vibration with the short shifts? My mech says that I would really notice the vibration.

I got the SFR shortshifter used for ~$55 (it is basically a stock shifter that is cut shorter and a welded on circular shaft) I bought it though because I don't have the know-how of cutting metal and welding.

The Momo Race **** is used as well, I didn't want to spend $80 on a ****, bought it off someone on the VW forums for $60

The vibration is very prominent, I don't like it much, trying to figure out how to cut down the noises. The noises are bad, not as much as the vibration. You can hear the whir of the tranny or roadnoise. But drive with open windows and you won't hear it at all..

Unfortunately, the noise & vibration is unacceptable in a street car... found no way to eliminate it. The OE shifter is designed to isolate noise/vibration. Anyone had success in silencing aftermarket shifters?

I don't know how good an idea this is, but spray some rubberized undercoating on the shifter itself, it should defenitly reduce noise and a slight decrease in vibration, it could be worth the try.

Here is a pic of mine. It is a Momo Competition shift **** to go with the Competition steering wheel. I used the Harrington short shift kit (purchased used) to replace the factory shift ****. I have a little vibration, but I am slowly getting it quieted down. Hopefully this summer I can get it back to the factory level, but it is in no way unbearable.

Cheers,

I couldn't stand the vibration/noise, so I went back to stock. My sfr short shifter is on Ebay now. I'm going to try one of the short shift kits that shortens the linkage rather the shifter.

No vibration with mine as I keep all the stock rubber bushings that hold the ****.
