I want to make sure I need to replace the motor mounts before I pay for the repair and it ends up being a different problem. I have an 86 944 n/a and it has a lot of vibrations until about 2k. Also let's say im driving in secoud at about 2500 rpm and I quickly press and let go of the accelerator the car will jerk virigously. Also when letting go of the accelerator in lower gears, unless im super smooth, the car will jerk. Will replacing the motor mounts fix this problem?

Of course you could have bad motor mounts too, but typically bad mounts is a vibration you feel at idle. As you increase the rpm it typically will be smooth. Check Clark's garage for the procedure to inspect your mounts.

Yes everytime I shift it will do a clung noise. Should I have been driving the car two weeks and it always has made the noise. Is it something that should be replaced right away?

Jerkiness is often related to worn driveshafts, and clutch centers. Vibrations at a stand still untill 2000 rpm, especially when the engine is cold points to bad motor mounts, there is a Porsche specified measurement for the mounts, find it and check em!!

Clunking on throttle on-off is the clutch disk.
High pitch vibrations at an idle then increasing as the rpm's increase is balance shaft pulleys/belt.
Low pitch vibrations at an idle that seem to go away as rpm's increase are engine mounts.
And while were are here; sloppy shift lever is a worn pin.

I'll check the motor mount with the tool from clark's garage, and if they are shot $380 is not too bad to get it fixed. But the shop told me it would be $1600 for a clutch job which I could almost buy another car with and I definately can't afford. Is doing the job yourself too hard? How long would it take, and how much would the parts cost if I did this myself. Im about to sell the car and I want to make it as nice as possible but not spend much more money...

Motor mounts are roughly $100 a piece. I have replaced the motor mounts and the job wasn't too bad. It usually takes a couple of hours (~8) for the beginner, so $180 labor doesn't sound too bad if you aren't up to the challenge yourself. As for the clutch, the parts are around $500. I haven't done a clutch job myself, but many others have done it with success.

You can do a cheap clutch job. Less than $300 in parts but the same labor.
Just buy the clutch disk and reuse the rest.
BUT! IF you find the throw out bearing to be bad replace it.
