Guys,
Just wanted to check in and say thanks for a ton of information. Last year I got the bug for a Porsche and ended up buying a 911SC here locally. The 911 is in excellent shape with a few minor interior flaws that I will address over time. The problem was the car was fairly low milage (92k) and original (for the most part) and I sort of want to keep it that way.
Then I got the urge to add another P car to the collection.... maybe something of less first cost than the 911 with significant potential for one at a time modifications to increase performance without breaking the bank.... A 951 became the quest. After doing a couple of web searches I ended up on this board. I was amazed by the info provided. Simply by scanning the board for a period of two weeks I felt like I had a good grip on the standard issues that needed to be looked at with these cars. I even figured out what PPI meant.
I searched the east coast for a suitable example at a reasonable price. Just happened to find one on this board (any guesses on the PO? Kalahari, Atlanta....). The info provided here gave me the courage to purchase a car sight unseen by asking the right questions and getting a PPI done. Still some lack of confidence the the local PPI.....a lot of the items mentioned were standard with a 951 of this mileage time will tell. Had the car almost two weeks now and enjoying it big time.
Again, I appreciate the vast amount of meaningful info provided on this forum and look forward to gaining more knowledge as time progresses.
Keep up the good work!!
