Default Fixed Headlight Prototypes

So here are my prototypes for fixed headlight options.

Yes I do have mock ups, not just modified photos of some of these.

They arent perfect, but the ideas are sound... but I cant decide, and the options for lights are a real pain... to decide...

Then of course the covers... havent decided on that either...

Other options, note the one above and this one, are being done by a shop I am working with.

The lights are motorcyle lights, but, projector lights could be used.

Last Option, we only have just begun a basic mock up of this, still fitting it... but the picture is of the car I took the design from.

AS for installation with lights, this photo shows a kit I bought for another car that is a very very close fit... did I mention close fit?

Yes I can modify it and have a mold done... then have a drop in setup.. even have the lens covers for this kit... but it comes up a little short...

this is a great fit if you wanted the lights to sit above the crease in the front nose panel and light covers... basically, needs a little trim, then fill in the space at bottom.. and thats all she wrote!

Of course... need a different source for the lights... or should I say cheaper...

The lights are also adjutable... from the rear or with the covers removed...

I will play with it, might be able to trim it and slide it forward so it sits lower and better matches the lines of the 944, then make the mold.. and have a fiberglass boat shop kick out about 100 hehe... add lights... Yea I think I need Icesharks help for that... I really want to just focus on the light buckets and all that... I need someone to figure out a good source for the lights...

You guys just keep coming up with great ideas, Now I have to go and try making my own as well. I just want to see if i could do it, if I don't like what mine turns out to be I'll end up buying a pre-made one.

BTW, I only like the first one, just my $0.42

Savage,

I can't get all your pictures to load up so really can't tell what you are playing with. Matt is off on the same project but I'm not sure how far he has gotten.

The light I think would work great for you guys is the Hella 90mm. If you go to Hella's web page look for the US numbered 68136, 68137, 68138 and 68139. These are the regular halogen versions as well as the HID arc versions. There is one lens for low beam and another for high. The big problem is the clearance with two lenses dropping into one of our light buckets will be really tight.

If you want I can get you a couple lenses for prototype work. Then if either of you actually makes this happen and can sell some we will have to work on a European source to get the price down on the lights. Hella USA just plain sucks when it comes to pricing because they are not really part of Hella but sort of a franchise. Expensive franchise!

EDIT, I see Matt offered you a set of the 90mm to work on. Take him up on that. If you can get them to fit cleanly I think you will have an attractive product.

It would be even cooler to get those painted in full body color.

Savage, awsome work. Do the light panels fit both a 924S (early 944) and the 951 style headlight panels?

I sent you a PM about those 931 nose panels, sorry i never got back to you on it. Your mailbox is full as of last night however. I would appreciate a picture of either one, which ever you feel requires less body work. Do they include grills also? Im unsure if i am still going to buy one though, my father gave me the "Stop spending money on a 17 year old car" speech a few weeks ago...so ive just been doing subtle changes...like suspension work =P. I am however getting some chips, dings and small dents fixed over the spring break, would be a great time to get the panel painted also. Please let me know a price also, thanks.

OK for possible light sources their is the Hella 90mm as recommended by Iceshark... using 90mm low and a 90mm High beam.

These use a 65w H9 Bulb, and that could be upgraded... Not sure about limits as thats more Icesharks arena... especially heat issues if using a lexan cover...

Check out the photo.
