Default Valuing a '91 944S2

I'm seriously considering a '91 S2, but I have no clue what a fair price is. I've checked the following:

NADA Average Retail: $11,956
Excellence (04/02) in Good condition: $8,450
Edmunds Private Party in Clean condition: $7,105
KBB Private Party in Good condition: $5,440

That's quite a range and I know that $5,440 is not fair to the seller, and $11,965 isn't fair to me, but what's a good price to agree on?

The M030 and LSD are high demand items. I would say 8 to 9k. I went and looked in your previous post "am I crazy". That Silver S2 looks nice.

That's what I figured, I don't have a problem paying a premium for those parts on a car that is in excellent shape...

Minimum $8K. I'd go higher because of the service records and single PO. $10K would not surprise me. $12K would seem too high.

I'm assuming this is a coupe: convertible commands more premium. Last year for 944 -- a plus in my book because of sentimental values. What's the last three digits of VIN -- maybe it's the very last 944S2. Sports seats by any chance?

Ooops -- never mind. Just saw the pics (it's a coupe).

What are the sport seats? That's been something I'm trying to figure out.

The sport seats have larger bolsters on the side...I can tell you right now from those pics, they're normal seats, just like in my 86 NA.

That's cool, it doesn't matter to me either way, I was just curious. Thanks.

Check out the spoiler -- that's definitely a 91 S2. Very rare beast. I'm still curious as to the last three digits of the VIN -- there were only 562 US spec 91 coupes.

I'll check it out when i go to look at it. I'm in love with this car from what the current owner has told me about it (I've gotten the feeling it is very well cared for. If the PPI checks out and we can come to a fair price, it will be mine (I hope, I still need to sell my Audi to be able to pay for the S2).

Wow, someone parked that car way too close to the curb...

Anyways, $10,000 is fair as long as its kept up nicely. How often do you see a fully optioned 1991 car? I've only seen 3 on the road besides mine, ever. D.C. / MD / VA is full of Porsches too.

Again, these cars are worth what the buyer is willing to pay pretty much.
By the looks of it, that car looks pretty clean. How did the PPI come out? If you didnt get one done, do it. You never know whats going on inside, despite what records show. If you have full records and service, and the car is genuinly kept up, $10 or 11k may not be too bad. The mileage is average.

I bought my car near average cab. prices, but it only had 64,000 miles, brand new tires, and the 60k service done the previous year. I don't have LSD, or M030, or the DEEP sport seats, but i have virtually everything else. (a woman special ordered it for comfort not sport, what do you expect...) I also seem to have paid for the color which is rare too. Dont be afraid to pay a little more for a top condition car. You don't find them too often in perfect condition. A little extra money now might save a bunch later!

What are the last 4 VIN numbers?

:edit: oh ok, no PPI yet... cant wait to see what comes up. Is that a PCA car? I never see 944s at PCA Potomac events. Where is everyone!

Cell phone? Look for holes on the center console -- probably on the passenger side. Seems to have been a common place to mount those things -- my PO did it to my car, and I used it as a bargaining point. (Still looking for a replacement center console.)

You haven't mentioned your location, that can have a big influence on price. I occasionally check out the S2 prices in case a deal comes along and in the NYC area that car would have a $12-14k asking price. With MO30 and LSD, it might actually go for that, quickly!
