I was looking to get an original owners manual, just for keepsake.. does the 1985.5 944 have its own owners manual? or is it the same as teh early 1985, or is it the 1986? what wouldve came with the car?
thanks.

I can check mine when I get home. For practical purposes, I think that the 86 manual would be prefered over the early 85 manual, as the 85.5 is basically an 86.

Hmm...that makes me courious though, wonder what they came with from the factory....sure an '86 manual would do, but did it say "1985", "1985.5" or "1986" on the cover? If it said "1985" did it have the contents of a "1986" manual?

When I bought my 85/2, it came with two 1985 manuals. The first was 85/1, the second 85/2. No idea why it had both. IIRC (not at home now), both say 1985 on the cover.

My 85.5 had the 1986 manual. Other than the 3rd brake light they are the exact same car.

I have the original owners manual that came with my '85.5, and I *think* it simply says '1985' on the cover, but all the specs are for '85.5 cars. I can check tonight when I get home and make sure. The '86 manual says 944/944 turbo on the cover while the '85.5 manual does not, but other than that, I can't imagine there being any differences between the two.

I went out to the garage last nite and peeled the blanket off of my sleepy, cold car to gain access to the glove box to check the manual. Mine indeed says "1985" on it, but has all of the info for late-85 cars in it.

The full color dealer sales brochure I have for it has photos of early 85 and late 85 cars in it though, to add to a prospective buyers confusion at the time.

Yieldsign, you can buy OEM Owner's Manuals from Pelican. Here's the link. Note they have both the early and late '85 Manuals.
