Car looks nice. Be sure to have a look at the option tag inside the rear hatch. You might get lucky with an LSD (220). The Fuchs are a nice bonus.

At first, I read the OP as being a 1988 model. You referred to it not being an S or Turbo, so I still had 88 in my head until I saw the pictures of the dash. Was going to warn you it isn't an 88.

Script fabric over all of the seat is a less common option, nice to have. Car looks to be in nice shape.

Big-
Just recognized your name from my Cigar and Pipe Smokers thread. That 944 looks good. If no mech issues you would be picking up a nice ride. Just don't expect tons of power. Probably a completely different experience than what you are used to. I have a 944T and they can be relatively easy to at hp (but more complexity). Just fyi. Not trying to talk you out of it. It is pretty.

Yeah, I wouldn't be buying it for power. Just a run around car and to have a manual shift again. It would be nice to have more power though.

I wonder if I should be looking for a 944 Turbo instead... Hmmm.

If you do go for a turbo make SURE it is a sorted one. Trust me. You can easily get into 2X the purchase price if not. But if sorted they are truly a wonderful experience. Mechanical, fast and great driver-machine integration. If they were water cooled I'm convinced they would be pulling similar era 930 prices, or close to it. Nonetheless I am very happy with mine. As it I sorted it though it was certainly love/hate.

This sounds like your first 944. If this is,stay with a non-turbo (NA) 8 valve. Get used to the maintainence and if you don't mind the attention needed to it then think about a turbo. That's how started and I am happy with my go cart.

Sounds like the Turbos would be too much to worry about for me. Even the 944 in general is sounding a bit much too. lol

I was hoping to find one that was fairly sorted and have it be fairly easy to maintain. I'll have to weigh things once I see this one. I really like the looks of it though.

Should you buy this car replace the throttle cam if not already done. The stock cam requires a lot of foot movement for results, the replacement cam will make it feel peppier with the more sensitive response when you move your foot.

I think you meant if they were AIR cooled.

base 944 is kind of a dog when it comes to power, but that's not the fun of driving them. it was the simplistic experience of being in touch with a lightweight sports car.
I had three separate 944s and loved them all. coming back around to a 924.

the silver one in this thread looks quite nice from the pics. good luck with it!

My thoughts also. The 924- 2.0 ltr is a bit worn out at this age of the model (I'm SURE that there are 1000's of low mileage barn finds with that show room look to it waiting to be found,LOL) and a replacement engine with an inexpensive jap made unit seems like an alternative. The rest of the parts needed to keep a 40 year old car running are enough to keep you in the poor house.
