I generally tend to not anthropomorphize my things by naming them, though my fiance does refer to my car as my weekday girlfriend. My fiance travels for work during the week, so my car is what I spend time with while she is away.

I suggest reserving anthropmorphic names for boats and planes. Cars (aside from rare vehicles used to extend the reach of human achievement) don't warrant names. In fact, even the great cars carry only the names of the drivers (and the sponsors...)

I happened to name my residence (it's an Australian tradition of sorts and I happened to have a name available at the time) but it's a bit grandiose and I can't imagine ever using the name in a sentence, it's just something that happened along the way. It's not as if I ever say "Hey Bruce, come on up to High Plains" (kidding) when I invite someone for a beer. My car is best described by what it is in terms of what the audience might might understand. When I had a 964 RS America, I would refer to it as an "RS America" to Porsche people or as a "Porsche nine eleven" to people that had no interest in sports cars.

I've named my P-car Ava. Because she's the first Porsche that I've owned and second because I'm not politically correct for naming her after hitlers' mistress.

I call mine "Glory" for two reasons... first, I'm in my glory every time I drive her, and second, there's a Tori Amos song called "Glory of the 80's" and this car is one of the best things that came out of the 80's, in my opinion!

"Herbie" after the poor little German car in "The Love Bug".

When I bought the car it was in need of a lot of TLC. I spent most of a year going through the little bugger replacing most anything that can wear out and bringing it back to respectability. Mechanically, the car is sound. Cosmetically, it could still use more work. I don't expect I will have enough money or patience to bring this car back to the point of being called "Prince Herbert"

Cool

BuzzRocket - after an old girlfriend's "Special Toy". It generally gives me the same sensation, though half the time I feel I should have bent over first!!!
