Drove the car today. I am impressed with how well it runs with the replacement injectors. The biggest difference I notice is when at the point where you are not accelerating or decelerating in 2nd or 3rd gear in town. It used to stutter under those conditions. I chalked it up to the slop in the drivetrain of a 30+ year old car.

It turns out that the fuel system could not maintain a steady fuel stream, which caused the stuttering, which was then exacerbated by the slop in the drivetrain. Driveability in town is much improved. Also, the engine runs much smoother above 4,000 rpm.

I sure wish I had replaced the injectors right after I bought the car. Lesson learned- replace/clean injectors. It’s an inexpensive way to clear up issues that may otherwise be difficult to pinpoint.
