question with bench testing fuel injectors
i'm going to simulate a pulse at my work bench to have the injector open, as i have my injectors and rail off the car. just replaced the seals and i'm going to hook up my compressor to the rail so i can put pressure into it and see if the injector seals are holding pressure.
also, i figured i'd put some injector cleaner into the rail, pressurize it, and trigger the injectors to see the spray pattern and clean them. does it matter which terminal gets + and which gets - or will they open on any charge? if they do need to be a certain way and i get it wrong, will it hurt anything? do injectors get a standard 12v signal or is it something else?
thanks

ok, hooked the line up to my compressor. the seals hold well and the fuel pressure regulator seems to be working fine. could still use an answer on triggering those injectors though

Check out this article on Fuel Injector seal replacement from Pelican Parts tech area. I was just reading it last night.

I doubt that there is any polarity to the injectors since they are essentially a solenoid.

Hmm, here's the advice I got on this.
+12V is what they get when the car is running, but keep in mind how short the injector pulse is.
I have heard that a 9V battery will trigger the injectors, but will not allow as much current through the wiring inside the injector, and it will not heat up as fast.
Yes, polarity does matter, however if you just give the wires a quick tap, and you have the wires backwards, it's essentially harmless.
