Default Your opinions on Dink King kit...

I have a couple of dings that bother me everytime i see them and would like to remove them, myself... I found this kit, but of course, most crap you see on TV is just that, crap. Do any of you have any experience with this kit? Opinions? suggestions? places to get it cheaper? thanks guys.

No personal experience with it, but...

My uncle swears by it. He says he's taken out a half-dozen dings ranging from minor to pretty nasty on his camaro (which is in mint condition). He says he's really shocked by it 'cuz he thought it was just a gimick, but that it actually works really well.

Also from what I've seen, the professional paintless dent removal guys use a very similar tool (just probably 100x as expensive).

I've also seen reports that it doesn't work as well.... Someone on here tried one and got a pretty good bit of a big dent out with it.

If they are fairly small, you can probably find a paintless dent removal place to take care of them and it would probably come out much better as they can work over that piece from the inside to get it smooth rather than just "popping" it out, which may not work with certain kinds of dents. Things like hail damage probably won't come out with it too well, but paintless does a great job. I had a whole car done for hail damage for $100 and except under flourescent light where a couple of them could just barely, barely be seen, it looked fantastic.

It does work, but only on certain types of dents. I cant really explain it, but it will pull out SOME dents perfectly, others you will still have a 'ripple' effect in the body panel. If your trying to fix stuff thats not to serious, its worth a shot.

I had a really bad crease in my front fender (courtesy of some marauding soccer mom) and tried this device. It actually worked surprisingly well. It did not remove 100% of the damage - only a new fender (or gobs of bondo) will do that - but it did a nice job anyway.

A friend of mine tried it and had a bad experience. So caveat emptor...

I used it and was satisfied. It's not perfect, but much better than before. It won't work well for small dings, things about the size of a quarter. It works by hot gluing a pad into the dent and pulling. If the dent isn't bigger than the pad, it's a show stopper. It works well for large swells, but also if the impact was sharp enough to stretch the metal it won't work right. I had two dents about the size of a softball, and eventually was able to work them out.

And here's a tip from my Brother in law who is a paintless dent repairman. If the dent is too small, use the knocker that comes in the kit to make the dent bigger, then pull it out with the ding king. I haven't tried that, but it souds plausible.
