944 steering column bolt removal. Please help
So I'm almost done stripping my 944 down for a rebuild but I am stuck on the steering column. There is a bolt holding it on that is threaded into a welded on nut. The bolt has a rounded dome head to it though so I have no clue how to remove it. Any help would be great thanks.

Just speculating based on your photos, but is the "bolt" actually threaded? I don't see any pitch, and they could be ridges. Thus the fastener was pushed in? And can be pulled out?

Also, to me it looks like the threaded section tip isn’t threaded all the way to the tip. Also the tip looks like it has four sides to it. Small open end wrench on that end and loosen it that way?

I use a sharp cold chisel. Strike the edge of the bolt head, straight in to make a "V". Then tap with the chisel in the direction to loosen.

WOW! Looks like they did a great job of fixing a no-tamper bolt~! Time to bite the bullet and try a large pair of vice grips on either side....Also suggest using PB Blaster on the threads overnight..Do you have much swing room? If so, you might try a small pipe wrench for more torque on the threaded end of the bolt. Once the head of the bolt clears the plate, you can get on it instead of the threaded section...Worst possible case..saw the head side off with a die grinder or a dremel...that should release the tension on the bolt and it should come out with aforementioned vice grips...if that fails, you might have to drill it out using a left-handed bit...it will tend to spin the bolt body out as you drill deeper...Just some thoughts.
