For what it's worth my 87 944S build date was 11/86 and that could be the source of some confusion. Of course it has an 87 VIN.

I had to work late and missed it. What did it end up selling for?

I was at the auction today and saw the 944. It had already been sold and was locked up, so I couldn't look at the engine and only saw the interior through the windows. But what I did see was:

Dinged up phone dials
Ripped seats
Mangled center console
Missing ***** and interior pieces
115K miles
Macco paint job
Missing rubber under the rear wing
Blackened exhaust pipe

Overall, this was a poor example of a 944.

Wow Jamie, you're lucky to be there!
That's interesting to know that it was a POS...it's funny, the description blurb said it was a good example of a 944...
Did it say how much it went for in the end? Who got suckered into buying it?

If that scrap heap sold for $4,644 then I'm taking mine next year. If it doesn't sell for $10K, I'll be amazed.

True "S" cars do draw alot of money, there is was sold down here in south florida at one of the high line dealers and I played the game with them for about 10 days. They started off at no less than $27,000.00 after I got them down to $25,000.00, went back 2 days latter and sold for $25,700.00. This car was perfect with 9,700 miles true "S". these car are truley desireable to the rich or a guy who likes to spend his money on a real masterpiece.
