Default Strange Knocking noise in rear

When I am accelerating, turning corner at medium speed, or when sometimes decelerating, there is a faint "knock" coming from the left rear of the car. The sound is a single "knock', I checked the spare tire area and there are no loose items in there that would be causing it.

I also noticed some instability in the high speed handling of the car. I got on a freeway onramp going about 60 mph (the onramp curves slightly), I can feel the car rear end slightly swaying - almost like it wants to do a fishtail.. WTF is going on here? What should I even check?

is it more of a clicking sound (CV joints trying to seperate) or more of a thumping or knocking?

I've had it turn out to be a loose wheel as well. If not that, I'd wager CV joints on they're way out.

While you are under there, check your swaybar links and bushings. (Always hoping for the cheap and easy solution )

Parking brake pads may be worn bad and loose, hence the knock at certain times. Happened to me. That wouldnt account for the instability though. Hopefully it isnt multiple problems and is something easy to fix.

check the lugs, then grab the wheel and shove it in and out. I bet it moves, sounds like a rear wheel bearing failure. look for uneven grooves and wear on the brake disc, another indicator. Kind of a pain, but doable, I just did it. If your lucky, it's just a bad pk brake/loose springs.
