I was just thinking yesterday that a sedan was prolly next in line for them to do.

Personally I think its a great idea, id rather see a Porsche sedan come out, than Porsche cut cars out or fold completly.

And hey, 500HP in a sedan, cant complain about that.

you guys do know Porsche has been the most profitable auto manufacturer in the past decade. There is NO loss of funds here. I dunno where that myth started. Its just a new 'make more money campain' basically...

For every up there is a down, theyre prolly just trying to prepare for the down.

And besides with sedans like the Nissan Altima thats pushing like 300HP stock or something near that, it was only natural that Porsche should step in and go further, even if they are trying to make money by doing that.

Profitable ... in the sense that they have the highest rate of return on money spent... but the actual dollar value of their profit is small.

I don't understand why people get so upset when Porsche makes any car other then the one they own...

1. What is wrong with making money?
2. As long as they keep making great sports cars, who cares what else they make? I need to drive a 4 door for work, and would love to drive one that was as Porsche like as possible...

Wow, that leaves me cold. Who is doing their styling, Ray Charles?

It looks like a pregnant 996.

Oh, and as for 928 comparisons, the 928 was never a 4-door.

Strange- I agree that it doesn't look like a 928- 993/996, but not 928- STILL, could be cool! I HATE the idea of them calling it a new 928 though- for that matter they should have called the Boxster the new 914 I mean damn, it's completely dif from any car they've EVER done- give it NEW name at LEAST... Also, in all honesty, I don't really care to have anything "Porsche" like if it means looking so much like the newer cars on the inside- lot's of things bug me about them, including the PRICE- most people here already know that I'm as honest as it gets for these cars that we already own- to the point of bitching so much that people questionn WHY I even own one to begin with, BUT, I think the 951 CAN be one of the best looking cars on the road INCLUDING the INTERIOR- I don't like the dash layout, gauges, etc of the 993/996/Boxster- seems to get worse as it gets newer- older 911's & 85.5 & UP 944's are PERFECT IMO- I even like the more spartan look of older 944's- PLUS, when are some of these German cars ever finally going to add a REAL door closing handle for their cars instead of using the oh-sh** handle dual purpose? LITTLE touches like that that add up can be important & are excusable on $20K cars but are NOT on $60K+... I don't know- opinions are like a**holes, but, I commend Porsche for trynig.... I hope the new car pans out & comes in comparably priced for S4 to M3 range...ESPECIALLY since new M3's don't have 4-dr version yet anyway....

Hmm....according to this site: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

72k pounds = 131k USD
that's a bit of a hefty price there

but is that rate true at all?
