Default dash cap options

Hello, I just bought a '84 944 which has the infamous dash cracks. I'm looking at dash caps (I had a velour dash mat on my 924S and now prefer the smoother look of the cap), but there seems to be 2 slightly different styles: the Accu Form with the "ears" which wrap around the lower section of the instrument pod, and the Coverlay without. Anyone have any experience with either version, as to fit and finish?

Thanks!

Go for the ears, more finished look IMHO. I once purchased a 944 for a beater and track car and didn't notice it had a dash cap for a few days, it looked pretty good. I purchased a rug type mat for my S2 dash to protect the nice original Just be aware that the rigid covers will warp and crack so they too should protected from the sun with a windshield sun shade .YMMV

Thanks for the info. Living in Texas, all my vehicles have windshield sun shades. The 928 wears its shade even while parked in the garage!

Default Ugggh! One of my few regrets in purchases.

So glad I pulled my late model 944. If you like quality then don't waste your money. However if you want to have a beater Porsche...go for it!

Not everyone chooses to put a $100 saddle on a $10 horse

I have the first type, and the fit is pretty good. Experts see it right away, but novices in my car don't even notice. I think a gentle heat gun would help my fit even more.
