Default Strange Hood fitting issue

As I continue always looking for things wrong lol..............

Anyone experience an odd hood issue where it has clearly begun rubbing on parts yet still fits fine according to fenders on outside?

Maybe engine mounts allowing rocking of engine? Wouldn't explain all of the points, but not thinking of anything else out of hand.

Hmmm... 2 years ago, I installed new engine mounts; I went with the aftermarket Meyle brand. Interesting

It likely not going to be engine mounts because one of the points you isolated is the expansion tank. Since that point is bolted to the fender wall and inside wheel well the engine mount is not going to play a roll there. The hood mounting arms allow a lot of play since you can make a lot of adjustment (both vertically and horizontally) with the 2 oval holes. When I was reinstalling my hood just recently I placed 3 or 4 tape markers on the fender for locations to measure the hood/fender panel gap with a caliper. After about 10 trails I eventually got some clarity as to what a minor adjustment was doing to the measurements. The job is pretty fiddly; and I couldn't find any particular procedure in the FSM for it other then trail and error.

Make sure all 4 of these are in place and in good condition.

Got it on the expansion tank. I’m assuming the hood arms allow for height adjustment as well as the gap to the fender? My gaps are all even.

Say, does the hood shape deform over time? I haven’t had the insulation and wondering if the heat has caused some changes. On the left, the hood appears not to follow the fender exactly anymore, rising slightly in the middle of the run.

They appear to be, though I don’t have new ones to compare. Perhaps mine have “lowered” over time

I have the exact same issue. I'd appreciate if you could post whatever solution you discover.

Is it possible early and late hoods are different?

Ok, just re-read this, and I see that it’s both horizontal & vertical. Have to admit, I’m a little fearful of loosening those two bolts, given that my strut supports aren’t exactly full-strength! That hood is pretty intimidating lol

NelaK: might be a little wait
