Default Finally... sold the car.

It only took 5+ months, a half dozen tire kickers, 500 Nigerian scammer emails and lots of people on here telling me "they wish". I drove the car from here in Atlanta up to Chesapeake, VA (near Norfolk/VA Beach/Newport News) ~ a grand total of 589 miles on Friday the 16th. I averaged 80mph for the first 400 miles at 27.5mpg, and no clue on the last 190 miles. I saw a red 944 going N on I-85 near Charlotte, a maroon 911sc, a black 928, a white S2 convertable and a pepper all headed south on I85 durring the day.... The car performed flawlessly, just as it did for the entire time I owned her. I'm glad that the new owner got her because he's definitely an enthusiast (has an '80 911SC Weissach in the garage already). Ted (the new owner) and his son have been lurking here ~ not sure if they're registered or not, but I'm buying them a membership to go with the new car, just trying to give all that I wished I'd had when I got the car.

Yea, it sucks to sell but my life's leading me somewhere a car like that just wouldn't survive. Anyway, one last parting shot of the car with her new owner:

Say hey and help him out when/if he drops by. I know you all will, but just have to say it anyway. I'm gonna stick around and lurk... probably terroize the OT forum. I'm still More than willing to help out any 944er in need down here in Atlanta......

The black 87 951 belongs to streckfu's951 on here. I've known him for YEARS online (though a motorcycle forum ~ we had the same bike and same car for awhile there). He drove me arround and put me up overnight.... oh, and got me so drunk I'm STILL feeling it. Not sure if that's a good host or a bad one...

Hrm... old LandCruiser that's gonna need a lot of parts, and a place where parts are horrendiously expensive. Not the best idea... I'm leaning more towards either a T100 or a Tundra (need to drive both and weigh the differences).

Congratulations on selling the car! I wish every seller was like you -- providing the buyer with Rennlist membership and everything.

That's class - nice gesture. Kind to them and good for Rennlist.

Way to pay it forward. Not enough of that going around (but more here on Rennlist than out there in the rest of the world!)

The car ended up selling for $8500 (though I was asking $8500 + delivery costs ~ so I actually got about $8250). I have nothing P-car related left ~ everything, magazines, keyrings, LED converted key, all spares (broken bits and all) went with the car. Part of the "giving everything I wish I'd had" as most all of that stuff I'd collected along the way.

All in all, less than what I would have liked, but enough that I didn't consider turning down the offer. I feel like it was a fair trade and hope that Ted does too....

Oh yea, I've *got* to stick arround in here for the motorcycle topics...
