There's a few page article about in a recent magazine ... one with the new red corvette on front. I think it's January's car and driver. Not sure though

Wow! That's impressive -- and it's a four-seater. Put a baby seat back there and get on the track with the whole family!

Are the R32's AWD? If not those #'s are very hard to believe. 3.2 0-60 is faster than a Mclaren F1 and they did it on Street rated tires!! I think the R32's have the VR6 in them is this correct? Very impressive car but I wonder how it would hold up against our 944's 150 screaming horses J/k.
It always amazes me what can be done with turbo setups.

Big deal. With enough money you can make an Integra as fast as that car.

Esan.....you are normally on target....but not this time.....The HPA kit cost $25,000 dollars on top of the price of new R32, which IIRC is around $32,000 dollars.....so lets say $60,000 in total. What you get is AWD- 550 hp - Twin-Turbo 3.2 litre dohc 4 valve VR6- 6 speed trans- 0-60 in 3.2- 1/4 mile in 11.49
Top Speed of 202.6 mph with room for five and a hatchback to boot!!!! and these stats were tested and confirmed by the TUV (Dekra) in Germany.......
also this is HPA's stage II kit.....they also offer a stage III at 600 hp!!!!!

Do you still think you could make a Integra do all that for 25K? I don't think so.......even if you could(which you can't) it still wouldn't be German.....

I was deciding whether i should wait for the R32 or just purchase the 20AE GTI when i did. I decided i didnt feel like waiting and bought the GTI instead. Ok, i missed out on the AWD and the extra power. Aside from that they are virtually identical cars. VERY FUN TO DRIVE! Great feel, awesome Recaro sports seats.
Against a 944 as asked, i bet the 944 would take it on a track. I just dont feel its limits are nearly as high for some reason. I might autocross is for fun in the spring against my S2 to see whats up. Its very close in a straightline though. And can be made VERY fast.

VW GTI / R32 in comparison to a 944 are same width, 4" shorter, and 6" higher. Makes for an interesting drive if you ever get a chance.

Performance number in the neighborhood onf an Enzo for only $60K? You can buy one in each color (four of them) and still have money left over for a house. I really love the idea of an Enzo/GT2 level performance in a car with the sex appeal of a Golf.

All that at porky 3400lbs list weight? There has got to be catch -- like turbo blows up once a year, you keep dropping torque tubes on the road...

Well who really knows.......but for a car to pass TUV testing it isn't one glory run and then put the car away. TUV testing and certification is very stringent and has one of the most highly acclaimed reputations in the world. You can be sure TUV wouldn't put their name on a POS. I can see Enzo turning in his grave..........

Let's not lose sight of the fact that the supercars people keep referring to are set up completely differently. For a VW golf that probably maxes out at 140mph or so to hit those numbers is different than for an enzo or mcclaren which tops at 220-230mph...gear the enzo or mcclaren to 140mph top speed and you'll be seeing sub 10 second 1/4 mile times and sub 3 second 0-60. Apples and oranges, I know, but let's not start comparing them unless we're talking in equal terms across the board. I have a buddy that built a $500 Nissan Pulsar, put $4000 into motor and JDM AWD tranny/suspension running sub 4 sec 0-60 times. It was still a poopy Pulsar, but it was fast...doesn't make it a supercar because it could only compete on ONE level.
