Well M018 is listed as:

M018 - SPORTS STEERING WHEEL WITH ELIVATED 30 MM HUB

So If the stock hub is 4in (100mm) and the M018 is 30mm longer, then the hub length would be 130mm by my math

M018 left, stock height right, source: https://pin.it/jbqdsyshqchdry

The M018 appears to have the extension piece added to it at the end. Do you know if this is the case, making it removable? Or is the "bird cage" itself the longer length?

Yes the M018 is an added 30mm piece. NLA nowdays.

Fyi a company called KVDR does a hub extension for 4 spoke wheels. No affiliation.

Look what I picked up today... an original "sport option M018" steering wheel with the 30mm extension on the back!

I'm going to try and retrofit the extension on my airbag wheel. I don't care if I lose the AB function.

The SW is in terrible condition (as described: needs the leather recovered). Standard non-sport diameter is 380mm and sport is 360mm (this one is 360mm & my airbag wheel is 380mm). Sport SWs came without extension and with. Howover, the extension isn't an add on per se: you can't use an M018 SW complete without the extension as the cage doesn't have the splines. Cages seem interchangeable though.

Very easy to remove the extension: three allen bolts. All looks original.

Aparently, Porsche recommended this extension for anyone 5'10" or taller. My seat is two clicks up from the rear and my arms have always felt a bit too extended.

If I can't use the extension on my AB wheel--even with small modification, maybe I'll re-leather this one. Yes, I like the stock wheels

FYI stock Porsche wheels are offset slightly: the centre of the rim is 12mm higher than the mount point. Aftermarket SWs usually aren't, so far as I can tell. Pelican does sell an adapter to compensate an aftermarket SW for this.

Just adding more info that I couldn't easily find on this topic
