It sounds like a good one. Go check it out. You know what to look for on these cars.
Good luck!

Jonas, i emailed the guy and left my cell number so he can get back to me faster. I am hoping I can look at this one on Saturday. I think I'll call Anthony up for a PPI too on the car if I like it that much.

BTW does anyone know what has to be replaced on an NA at around 45,000 miles? Anything more serious than a timing belt? like waterpump? tensioners???

Andy, i didn't notice the milage on this one... 172k is alot.... i mean if you can get that other one with 43k for only like a grand or two more, i think it would be worth it...

Jonas a low mileage car would sound very tempting, but there's a chance i could be putting more money into it. Keep in mind the warranty on that car has expired about 16 years ago and some things tend to go out on low mileage cars that have not been corrected by Porsche yet. A car that has had everything done and high mileage like mine before the crash would last well beyond 200,000 miles. The way the car has been driven is also an issue. Constant redline touches can be bad for the valvetrain and bearings on the car.

I'm not saying that burgundy one i'm looking at is a bad car, I'm sure its really good, but prejudice shouldn't be applied to high mileage cars, especially the reliability and efficiency of the 944 engine of all models.
I just hope whichever car I buy will be as good to me as the old one was. I sure will miss that car, it's taken me all the way to college and was gonna be the car that had 'just married' written on the back of it...

A grand or 2 for that burgundy one would also be a ridiculous offer for a car as pristine and as immaculate as the owner claims it is. Perhaps if the red one is a little beat, maybe that would be a value considered.

I replaced my front wheel bearings at about 45k-50k. Balljoints, tie rod ends, bushings. Those things tend to die from either use OR age as you mentioned.
