My dad bought the car in January of '84 and I was born October of '84. My dad originally said that he would buy a Porsche when he made a million dollars, but when he found out that he was about to have another son, he decided that he could care less about the million dollars.

I was 54, trying to avoid personal bankruptcy after my company had been sold and I was told to hit the bricks. The last thing on my mind was a Porsche! My oldest son was in medical school (borrowing every dime he could get) and my youngest son was a soph and having to live with mom and dad (bad times for him),

a 1987 944
I was 3 when my dad bought it, well maybe 2 if it was sold in 86.

He traded in his beater (total lemon) 924Turbo that day.

Default Such a young crowd

I bought my 86 944 new. I was 26 yrs old. I actually had it ordered with specific options (graphite metallic paint and cruise control). Took 6 months before I took delivery (May 86). Most dealerships had the 944's with lots of options which pushed the price up. I was a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps finishing up flight school in NAS Pensacola. Thought I'd treat myself for getting an officers commission in the Corps and getting my golden wings of naval avaition.

I was about 1 1/2 when the frist owner took delivery in nov of 87, probably was lying around pretending to choke on blueberries to scare my parents.

Was anyone concieved in the Porsche they now own? That would be hilarious IMO.

I was 6. I was doing the things 6 year olds usually do. It was incredible.

I was also 6. I think it was a few years later that a family friend gave me a ride in a 944 and I've been hooked ever since!
