Default 1978 Porsche 924 project car

Have a few questions about my recently acquired 78’ 924. There is a ton of play and looseness in the shift linkage (so bad it won’t even go into 1st gear) I think it might need new bushings but I don’t know what to look for. Also are there any tips on tuning the mechanical fuel injection system?

Only944.com should see you right as far as the shifter goes. The FI is well above my paygrade.

I don’t think anything on only944.com is made for the early 924. Contact Dan Beckett of Ideolas Garage on Facebook or on his website

http://www.924.org -may have what you need.
Shifter slop seems to be a 924 bug.

Thank you guys for the help, now about the front brakes is it at all possible to swap the calipers from a 944 to the 924 or is there another fairly cheap way to upgrade them?

Performance pads are all you need. It has more than adequate brakes for its power.

With 95-110? HP it's not a drag racer. This whole N/A series (924,924S,944) suffers from lack of any kind of real power.

As suggested above, the Only 944 short shifter is NOT compatible. I tried on a 78... will not work.

I understand the lack of power but the issue I’ve run into is that the factory calipers on the car are seized and I figuered I might as well upgrade them while I had the chance.

Default Just bought a 1978 Porsche 924 have questions

Hey I just acquired a 78 924 for 400$ First is that a good buy almost everything original is there except the hood just needs reassembled? Next should I just part it out or is it a car I may want to restore? Financially speaking? Next it seems to have the original motor but I’m pretty sure it is supercharged? Anyone ever seen or know anything about that I have numbers just let me know what info you need I’m just trying to find out more info about it. Please and thank you for your advice and answers in advance!

Super charging wasn't an option on '78 924's. A $400 Porsche will cost you approximately $40,000. Take some photos of it and post it here (engine bay, interior etc.). And lots of $400 Porsches are restored. It's a labor of love. Don't know what to tell you about the hood. And as long as you think that you got a bargain you did, grasshopper.
