Default $500 924s Project Car

Here is the original thread:

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...hreadid=101682

Last time I'm going to post the car for sale. After this I'm getting rid of it via junkyard or donation. Seriously, people are really missing out on a project that is well worth the price. I really don't feel bad donating it, but I'd rather see this goto a porsche owner instead of being scrapped. For $500 you can't go wrong. The parts that I bought themselves totalled over $300-400 dollars, so your pretty much getting the car for $100. The funny thing is the car runs, yet no interest in the car. I still have the parts to fix the car sitting in a box. Car comes with everything. Check the car out before you shrug it off. Like I've said before, you can't lose on this deal. Do whatever you want with the car. If you part the car you will make more than your money back. Dad wants me to get rid of it so I am. Car located in Northern, NJ, everyone is welcome to see it. Thanks. If your interested pm, post, or call me.

Its a bigger country when something we want is on the other end. Too bad I dont have a whole lot of time, it would make a great adventure trying to get it home by driving it!

If I could get someone to buy my freaking German arm band that I've had for sale for a long time, I'd buy it RIGHT NOW! I have the time to go on a Porsche retreval adventure right now! I don't want to hijack this thread, but someone buy my armband so I can get this car - please!

Did the mounting ears for the p/s pump and ac compressor break off the block, or off the pump/compressor?

Are the pump/compressor removed now?

What is the condition of the oil pan? Was it hit/dented as well?

Well the the p/s pump broke, the a/c compressor broke off some sort of bracket (in which i have included), but I have the the parts ready to be installed. Both were removed, so all you need to do is install them. The pan on the bottom was off, car hit a big enough hole to break the pieces. The pan itself wasn't even touched.

That would be an awsome track car. Time and money is not much of what I have right now. But just out of curiousity, how much would it cost to ship that 924 to Los Angeles?

v944god, how is the transmission on the car? It may be worth while for me to have a spare tranny for my 924S. Amazingly i do have a spare phonedial that could go on it also. But i dont think my father would agree to it, as he keeps telling me too stop putting money into the 924S already. Who knows, maybe i can convince him to let me store it at his shop. AND having TWO automatic 924S's...bah ill never hear the end of it! Ill keep cursing myself come the summer wondering why i just didnt save for a 951! You say the car is not driveable? Think it could make it about 50 miles back onto Long Island?

PM me with your location, if its not too far away on my way back to school (which is in trenton) maybe i can swing by and take a look. The very earliest i would be able to take a trip out though is the 24th...i dont want you too have to wait on me as its unlikley ill be able to buy the car, let alone have it brought back to New York unless my father is ok with me taking up the space at the shop.

If the car were manual, im sure it would have sold already...or i would have started borrowing money from friends! Cash is tight for me right now, and still have to buy Icesharks light kit, not to mention alot of other unnecesary things ill find along the way. My mothers car was just totalled in a bad accident, so i doubt my dad would allow me to use my money to buy another car (dont ask how that works, but it happens often enough). How much longer do you suppose you will have the car for?

I might be very interested, actually my grandfather but, I live in central jersey, depending on where you are it's probably not more than 4-50 miles. I'll ask him tonight and let you know. Do you have a picture of it?

V944god:
Seems that you have some interest in your car here!

If you can't sell it, look into donating it to a high-school shop program. There was a 928 that was used by the shop class at Wayne Valley High School: I considered buying it off the school, but it had tranny problems....
I'm sure Manchester HS has a similar program, and would be more than happy to take your car. (Remember, such donations are tax deductable!)
If you still want to sell it, I suggest advertising in the wantad press (www.wantadpress.com). Excellent local publication for selling and buying cars.

Also: come out this Wednesday to the NNJR monthly meeting (Westin in Morristown). During the meeting, there is quick "For sale / wanted to buy" time where people state what they have.

Good luck selling the car: the dead of winter can be a difficult time to sell a sports car...

-Z-man.

Techno Duck, the trans works great, it never had a problem. I wouldn't recommend driving the car back though. You can never know what will happen.

Bhj0887 I'm located in Haledon, NJ. I don't have pics but your welcome to see the car in person.

Z-man I had a friend who told me about the same 928 when it was in shop, but I didn't want to get involved in buying one w/ a bad trans. I might try wantad for awhile and if it doesn't sell I'm going to donate it to an organization that will need the money.

Dude, advertise around a high school, after I got my car, there were like a billion people asking me about them and sounded as if they wanted one themselves. Just get a piece of paper, and write $500 Porsche for sale with a phone number, if it doesn't sell within a week, it never will.
