I have an original Rothman's Turbo Cup jacket from this series that doesn't fit me if anybody is interested in nostalgia.

White, with blue and red, Rothman's on the back and the official Turbo Cup logo on left chest as seen at .20 into the video.

Will post pics tonight.

Thanks for sharing. That was a great race. No wonder why Goodyear made it to Indycar.

Racing is life. Everything in between is just waiting and preparing to race.

Sure is, I had seen a few of these before but looks like the whole season is up now.

Race 3 from onboard with Goodyear at start from dead last is exceptional.

Those PZero slicks look pretty good even by today's standards but the suspension today is miles ahead.

Good stuff.

Just the pure history is cool. About 2 minutes in the commentator mentions "the Andretti back straightaway" I'd never heard of. At Laguna Seca, turn #1 is named the Andretti Hairpin, it's where my son spun my 928 due to an unexpected downshift initiated, believe it or not, by his instructor in the passenger seat. Like most 928s, mine is an auto and I very expressly told him not to ever downshift to second. So what happens? His instructor takes matters into his own hands and downshifts to second going into the Andretti Hairpin at roughly 130mph. Halfway through the turn, the auto wakes up and downshifts the car. Instant 360. Black flag. A whole lot of angst.

My son's lucky to be alive. If it hadn't been his first track day he might have had cars behind him and a lot of people could have been hurt.

But I digress. No idea why. Mentioning the Andretti Straightaway just brought it all flooding back, chills up the spine. Lesson? Never put a high performance automatic on a track if you're still learning to drive.

"One of those drivers that turns off the ABS"? Any comments on that practice from the 21st century? What was the supposed advantage?

One aspect of ABS on the track is it prevents the full application of "2 feet in". This technique has saved me my car on numerous accounts and prevents the car from coming back on the track and taking out a fellow competitor.

Some drivers also use the brakes to rotate the car and ABS can interfere.

Cool stuff. Have one of these also along with the Rothman long raincoat and oversized umbrella. All original I bought from Goodyear's crew chief. Don't use often, by at the right event, great conversation piece.

One of the original Rothman 944 Turbos loaded up on a hauler with a bunch of other 944's race cars that just arrived at Daytona for a 944 Cup event for Rennsport Reunion
