Default FS: Used Koni Double Adjustable F/R Coilover Shocks for 944, Great Deal

Have available used, Koni double adjustable front shocks inserted into 951 modified struts for early steering knuckles , easy to modify if you have late spindles, instaing a 1 mm shim on each side of the flange and modifying the center to center bolt distance. The units are thread for full coilover height adjustment. They fit 83 -86 944's and front strut housings needs the shim for late spind!e, The rear shock mount requires aluminum trailing arms and Racers Edge trailing arm bolt assembly.
Also used Koni 3012 double adjustable rear shocks that have the parts to be coiliver.
Also have 2-8 lnch length 400 lb/in front coilover springs.
The parts are 3 years old in good condition and seen 15 track days. Consider selling fron and rear shock assemblies separately
Package cost is $1800. Paragon price for the package is about $3500. Shipping is extra
Can post photos in couple of days because removing shocks now

Pics would definitely make this more clear for potential buyers than the text...,

What double adjustable shocks are these that fit inside a (Sachs I presume) housing...?

The 3012 is already a coilover rear shock, the body is fully threaded.

Is the valving for those (# on the top gland nut) BA53 or something else...?

OP have the car up on jack stands 7/19 and post photos as installed, then more after removed. The front Koni is 8611 inserted into a 951 strut. The spring perch on the 951 strut was cut-off, so the 8611 is full threaded for ride height/corner balance adjustment. The rebound is adjusted at the top with a removable **** and compression is at the bottom turning an external boss drilled to accept a an Allen key wrench. The front Koni was revalved for 500 lb/in springs.

The spindle flange attachment ears on the 951 was milled 1 mm on each flange to accept the early spindle and the each flange had a small plate welded and drilled for the upper bolt.

The rear 3012 was run with 31 mm hollow torsion bar. I do not remember what is the valving spring rate range but did say to Koni that had the above rear torsion bars and I want the shocks to match

Gotcha.

The rears should be stamped 1626 or 1627 next to the valving code for the right stoke, min/max ext length and body length.

Keeping an eye on how this goes, have two sets of 3012s with less time on these that I don't need.

Pretty good setup but I think I saw you post that you are moving on to SP2...?

Curious, what are you switching to..?

Responded, ok then, I thought this was one of those ex Canadian cars that used to be Spec and was moving to SP2.

My mistake.

Hi T,
It is ex Greg Fordahl car from Seattle. Greg was the race engineer for David Donahue and Alex Job Racing. Several of his prepared Porsche 944 8V
NA's ran in a 944 spec series and Greg was the technical guru on engine #2 bearing failure and was the driver for keeping 944 spec racing in the NW at reasonable costs.
What was discovered at Lime Rock by my professional European race car driver coach was the car understeered in the slow corners. Therefore, the changes to the suspension

I do not do 2 races a year outside of PCS to meet PCA requirement for PCA license but if the testing goes well and my lap times meet my goal, I will go for it. I am grandfather pursuing a dream.

Upper shock connection, rebound is adjusted here with a **** inserted into top. Ground Control camber/caster plate is not included in sale

Bump is adjusted at the bottom of the strut opening with allen key wrench. The helper spring is not included in sale

Rear coilover Koni 3012 shock. The Racers Edge lower shock mount bolt is not included in the sale. Please note that the shock is bolted to alumimum trailing arm. The upper and lower spring perchs are included in the sale. The shock is double adjustable

See the numbers 3012 is the Koni series. The internals for rebound and bump are designated by 1627. This is the rear shock

As promised, these are photos taken with the shocks installed on the car. The shocks are to be removed by 7/21.

The first 2 photos posted are the front shocks with struts. The Ground Control chamber plate and the helper spring are NOT included .

The photos made it to the head of the line and some of the latest posted verbiage is smeared throughout, I know you can deciphet. Consider selling the front and rear shocks separately but the individual front and rear components are 25% more than the total plus shipping

Not 1427, your pic shows 1627 as I predicted up above.

That number gives range dimensions of travel for the shock shaft (rod) and actual body of the shock.

The valving for compression and rebound should be the other number, can't see whole number but should be BA53.

These are the real deal for rear 944, and aluminum bodied, run inverted and very very light. Wide enough adjustment range to be great street as well as track shocks.

So Greg Fordahl built and raced this particular car out of the three FM cars I have seen before, all NW racers....?

Interesting....., and this car has the #2 rod bearing preventative failure magic...?

Can you tell us any more about this that may have been passed on to you..?

Thanks for the update. I've been trying to justify these parts for my RallyCross car build. Still need to do more homework, but this may be overkill for my application.

Hi T,
It has the crossed-drilled rod journals on the crankshaft, the 951 oil pan, the trap door in the oil pan sump, the oil ring around the screen of the oil pick up, and the oil return line is V-12notched at the outlet 180 from ring to allow air entrained to release from return engine oil. The journal bearings are coated.

I am building a new engine. Had Michael Mount machine rods for standard racing Clevite rod bearings.
