Default Try to take fuel strainer out. Need help!

I was trying to take the fuel strainer out of the fuel take and it snapped off at the collar. Anyone experience this and what do I need to do to get it out of the tank? I would rather not take the tank out of the car. Thanks for any help.

plastic tank or metal? If it's metal and you have already drained the tank, you can use a hot air gun to melt the solder that holds the bung in the tank, remove it, and do you stuff on it while it's in a vise. The solder melts at about 300-400 so it shouldn't present a problem to the gas...suggest you flush the tank out with a garden hose prior to doing the hot air thing..
If it's a plastic tank..good luck...You should ask Odonnell how he likes the Hfreight plastic welding kit..Hope this helps some..
