I would be leery of them for auto-x in the rain, as it is pretty well known that the AVS-sport is crappy in the rain (or cold pavement) for auto-x, and I'd assume that they're similar if not an inferior compound to the AVS-Sport.

Summer tires are guaranteed to suck in the snow, its just a given.

I remember driving home in the snow on my BFG T/A KDW's...
3rd gear up a slight hill, any more than 1/2 to 5/8 throttle @ 2200rpm and the tires would break loose... Those of you that have 951's know that 2200rpm in 3rd is just barely not bogging the engine, there's barely any power to be had at that rpm level.

AXing in EVS' - they were quiet slippery, not alot of traction. Have since used Kumho Victoracers, obviously not a far comparison. Other stock class winners prefer the Falken Azenas-one great performance tire.

"Other stock class winners prefer the Falken Azenas-one great performance tire."

Falken Azenas ruled the "Street Tire" class of the SCCA Autocrossing events I have raced. Yet, last time I checked they were not produced for the stock 944 rim size. Does anyone know if this has changed?
I would love to get my hands on a set. Note: Never buy Pirelli P6000 no matter what anyone tells you. They are the worst "performance" tire. I rather drive on my bald Yokohama AVS tires than my new set of P6000's.

So I went to the dealer today and he showed me the Michelin pilot sport A/S for about 70 bucks cdn a tire more, it looks like a nice tire, he recons a much better choice for our climate, now I am undecided, came a way with no tires at all heheheh.

I've been using them for about a year now on my VW. Treadlife is good, traction is great for the money, they don't hydroplane too easily, relatively quiet, good road feel. I'd put them on my 951 in a heartbeat.

The problem is, they are a summer tire only. In <20F temperatures, for the first 1/4-1/8 mile, its like you are on ice. I routinely spin them up to temperature every cold winter morning before I get traction. And thats in an 85 hp FWD car. Freaking things are deadly on snow. No lateral traction to be spoken of AT ALL. They are also pretty slick in mud, but not too terrible in dirt.
