What did you pay for your 944?

FYI - the 24,700 number in 1984 (using CPI inflation calc.) is a touch under 43 (42,800)THOUSAND dollars today. If you prefer, it is the base price of, guess what, a BOXSTER.

This is a good thread. I'm compiling all these numbers into a spreadsheet. So far the average 944 is a 1985.5, purchased in 1999 with 104751 miles for $5750.
The 944S- 1987, purchased in 2002 with 126333 miles for $2533.
The 944S2-1989, purchased in 1999 with 117700 miles for $11643.
The 951-1987, purchased in 2001 with 103153 miles for $8433.
The 968- 1992, purchased in 2001 with 119500 miles for $8500.
The data is a little skewed without a greater number of cars, particularly the 944S and the 968. If this gets a lot more responses we can get a good idea of the 'average' 944.
Can you tell I don't have a lot to do at work today?

Tom - I think that once you leave the mid 1970s CPI is not a very good way to judge the value of a product. For instance in 1970 we charged about the same amount per tire that we do now! If you used CPI then the 4 for 100 should be something like 4 - 470!! Now that would be nice!!
Nevertheless, I come up with 22K and change. Numbers only go to 2004 but I dont think inflation has been that bad in 2 years.

Pete,
Not to add more work, but I think it would be really cool to see a spreadsheet that breaks that out by area, so that we can see how the price fluctuates by region. It would be nice to put some quantitative proof to the feeling that I have that 944variants are more pricey in the midwest verses the coasts, yadayadayada.......

I'll add a column for the area. I could divide the US into six regions and do it that way.
It will still need a lot more data to get an accurate sample.
Keep these posts coming!
I think the registry that John D. is working on will be able to cover a lot more ground, With this I'm just curious to what the average Rennlister's 944 is.
