Default Uh oh...

So, I was replacing rear wheel bearings on my 1983 944. When loosening the 36mm axle nut I heard a "crack", but thought it was the nut cracking loose. I proceeded to complete the job, but when tightening the axle nut back up I noticed that the car would roll even though it was in gear. I finished putting everything back together and fired the car up to take it for a test drive, but the car will not move when I disengage the clutch. I shut it off with the car in gear, got out, and pushed on the back of the car: it would roll while in gear. I am afraid to ask, but what did I do, and what needs to be done to fix it?

CV Axle? Is what it sounds like but could be wrong.

Try putting the car on stands, turning it on, putting it in first, letting it idle with the clutch out in first, and looking under it. It should be pretty obvious what's spinning and what's not.

Yup, CyCloNe!, CV axle. I popped the outer joint. I'll get that replaced and get ol' red back on the road.
