Default towing 944

First - I did a search - nothing answered this question. I am close to a 944 purchase, about an hour and a half away - Can I tow the 944 home with a tow dolly, or must it be a full trailer? Thanks...and thanks for all the good 'looking' advise that has helped me narrow things down!

I could be wrong, but i am pretty sure that there isn' a problem with towing any two wheel drive on a dolly. Anyone?

Remove the front bumper, inset large screw driver into bumper shocks, rotate 90', attach a standard tow bar to the bumper shocks, turn key to unlock steering, you're on your way.

You can flat tow any manual trans car forever. Look at all the RVs with dingies.

Purchase the tow eye bolt that screws in to front and keep in glove compartment for future. Helps keeps from ripping bottom spoiler. Just a suggestion. Good luck!

If it's a U-Haul-type dolly where the front wheels are off the ground, there might be a front valance clearance problem. The problem can be overcome with some scrap lumber. Some 2x8's worked well for me. I put a couple pieces before the ramp, two pieces on the ramp and two more pieces in the tire wells of the dolly where the tires would eventually rest.

Over a short distance (like you stated) it shouldn't be a problem: however, over long distances you have to consider the fact that the tranny oil isn't being circulated, since the car is not running. Thus, you can possibly do some damage to your rear differential.

Just a thought.
