QUestion about wheels
Alright, its adumb question but I'm curious
You know if you put a late offset wheel on to an early offset wheel, its sits in really far? Could you take a REALLY wide late offset wheel and stick it on say an 86 Turbo and have a real wide wheel? You'd have to make the studs longer though, right?
I'm thinkng theres lots of stuff that could go wrong but I cant remember what I was thinking a buot last night, but that idea came into my head..
thanks!

The problem is not with the width, but how far in the wheel sits. I would think you would experience rubbing on the inside of the tire against the rear of the wheel well. As for studs, if this worked (which it will not), then you would not need to change the studs as the wheel would bolt on normally. The only reason you have to go to longer studs with the late offset wheels is due to the spacers (which are required to prevent inner wheel rubbing). Good thought though - I think every one who has every done the 17" wheel upgrade likely has wondered the same thing.
