Default Sheared my a/c bolt

Checked why my belt was squealing and found my a/c compressor hanging. The long pivot bolt was sheared and mostly gone. I have a road trip on monday-anyone know the specs or a quick substitute?

Depends upon the year and whether you are working with the original compressor or an aftermarket unit.

Original
83-85/1 front and rear bolts could be 10m, 1.25 pitch, 50 mm length.
85/2 front bolt ditto above, rear bolt M8 x 55

Aftermarket .... could be an assortment

Sometimes the shearing or bolt breakage is due to a the bolt becoming lose over time,
or the compressor locked up.

Timely thread, had a really disconcerting knocking tapping noise when i started my car on Wednesday, got to work ok but spent the day expecting a rod to come out on the return trip.

on a hunch i peeked down and the front compressor bolt was loose and sticking out 1/2", threads still engaged... found a wrench at work, tightened and drove home noise free.

Must've forgotten to snug it when reassembling car for smog.

don't over tighten these bolts, they only need 15 lbft or so to stay locked.

I'm working on a 85.5, but the compressor is an aftermarket Kuehl unit, which I understand is a popular replacement when going with R134a. I assumed it was a single long bolt through both sides, so thanks for clearing that up. It looks like M10 in the front and M8 in the back will probably work, but they will need to be longer and need some spacers.
