New shop almost ready
Finished installing base molding today. Cabinets are all assembled, finish floor delivered and ready to install. Should be ready to move in the lifts and tools by mid May with a strong tailwind...
The lights are all 600 watt LEDs, there are LED track lights above the bench (under the windows) and at the roof peak. When I turn them all on at once it's brighter than daylight. The stub pipes coming out the wall about 5' up are pneumatic lines plumbed to an outside 2 stage compressor. I plan to install reels on those.

Thanks Marc, it's been almost 40 years in the making, I hope I get to use it before I'm dead . I started working on my first car, a 1971 Porsche 914, in a lean-to style shed open to wind and rain, then after 20 years graduated to the shop I'm selling now, two stories with a 4 post lift. I thought that was the ultimate and its served me more than well for the past 20 years, but its time for me to move on. Some lucky guy is going to pry it from my cold dead fingers soon (I hope).
This is the first shop I designed and built from the ground up. I started it two years ago so I'm excited to get it up and running!

One of the big selling points for this house was the previous owner had planned the shop addition and already had permits for construction. He raced vintage cars and the plans were already there. There were other reason to buy the house too, but having everything permitted in advance meant I could start construction the day after I closed escrow. A real plus.

Hey Paul -
The new one is in Paso, old one is in Big Basin park, between Saratoga and Santa Cruz just off Hwy 9. I'm going to miss Hwy 9 after driving it for the past 40 years I still think it's the best road in CA. But there are good roads here in Paso too. Here's to new adventures!

Paso Robles is pretty much heaven on earth.
and that's a heck of a shop/porsche temple, would love that kind of space.
one tip if its not been addressed already - run way more electrical outlets than you think you'll need. Cheap convenience.

It's only two bays in the shop part. In front of that's a regular two car garage that also has the mill/lathe in it, then there's an attached "shed" you drive through to reach the second bay. Take a look at the floor plans. It isn't a "show" shop by any means, but altogether it can house 4 cars and a trailer.

One thing I might regret is not putting in upward facing lights along the two side walls. I'm so used to moving work light around under the lift I didn't think about it until I was finished. Not sure they'd have worked anyway, I've never seen it done anywhere else so there's probably a reason for that.
