Feeler Post: Thinking of parting out my silver 951.
Ok, well I have this car I have been trying to sell for the grand total of $3,500 dollars, and because I have not had much luck i'm thinking of parting it out, and this is a feeler to see what parts on the car people would want and what they would be willing to pay for them.
Motor high mileage, but with stock compression accross all 4 cyl
Smooth running low mileage (80k) Transmission (open diff)
Good body work, except the rear drivers 1/4 pannel
Interior not great, but i'm sure there are bits in there people need.
Wheels are four 16x8's with good tire (225/s and 245s)
Brakes work very well and the a-arms and such are in good shape.
Also new speed and reference sensors.......
Here she is....

I thought it was sold, but buyer is haggling over price (well one of the buyers I'm still waiting to here from another interested party), and I don't like to haggle.

Three Wheelin'
If you've got the space, the car will be worth more in pieces, IMHO. I know you'll get some people that are pissed that you're putting another one out to pasture, but . . .
My quick parts list:
Right front turn signal assembly (in the front bumper)
Left front fender liner
full set of side markers
under trays
Sorry that you're having such trouble selling it. The state of the paint makes it a tough sell, but it seems like $3500 is a very fair price.

Well, I have seen this car personally and it is in the condition Ian describes. $3500 is a fair price. It could use paint, and the interior is so-so. For another $3k, any cosmetic issues can be resolved and that would make a decent 951 for somebody at $6.5k, not a bad deal at all. The engine and drivetrain are strong as well. The other path is this would be a great start for a dedicated track car.

As I have said from the get go, I don't want to sell this car, I think it would make a great driver, but i'm having trouble selling my other car so something has to give....

I bought my NA for close to that last year. Much lower mileage, but still. That is more than reasonable. Heck if you could wait about 4 or 5 months I might buy it off of ya I agree with you on the haggling. Drives me nuts. I usually don't haggle, but offer the most I can if something is within my range to purchase. If not, I don't want to waste my time and someone elses. Some people would disagree and try to save the couple of dollars. It's only money and you can't take it with you...

Ian does the hood have the normal dents above the hood latch? If not I would want the hood. Also if you do part it out there are some other sheet metal parts that I would want.
If you want anyone to come help dismantle the car let me know.

A real shame used cars can't be imported to my country.
If you end parting it out, I'm looking fir the whole engine, gearbox an DME (don't know it that's the name in engish :P)

Billy,
Thanks for the offer, we will see how this goes.
Steve,
I'm glad there are other people out there that think the way I do on haggling, it just gets so annoying, I think I get 3 or 4 emails a week that start off haggling over the price of one of the cars I have for sale.....

I wish there was a way I could price the of these parts, again I'm anti haggle, but would want to be sure that I covered my costs in the car.

I hate to see a decent solid 944 bite the dust. If I had the room I could start a home for stray Porsches.
On the other hand, one less car raises all our values 1/100000000000 of a percent.

I'll start with your fog light trim set.
You have well over $3500 of parts in there, but the fact that you're going to part it out is going to be very very time consuming..
And then comes shipping..
And then comes the people on the boards who are against parting cars with a "good" chasis..
If you where anywhere near California, you'd get at least $7k for that car.
