Default Pennsylvania Residents / emission laws

I was just wondering what you 944ers are going to do about the new state wide emission law and what we are going to need to bring are 944’s up to snuff?

In lawrence county we dont need to do the gas cap thing. only a snifter at the end of the exhaust. Keep it less than 5K per year and you will be exempt

Here's the deal unless your in the phila area. On our cars pre-obd2 it's a visual check to make sure emmissions equip. is in place and a gas cap test that's it. down in the phila area it's still the sniffer which if I remember right is being phased out in another year anyway. So we don't have much to worry about.

Mochman is 100% correct. I believe it is pre '95 cars that are visial checks only.

This is going to be a big hassle for everyone, not just the customers.

We just got our emissions machine today.

Which machine did you guys get? Snap-on here. Def. a hassle for the tek especially on an obd2 car that hasn't completed a drive cycle. I can only hear the customer now "you charged me how much to drive my car for what!" Some days it sucks to be a wrench, glad I'm not doing everyday anymore.

If you register your car as "Collectable" in PA you are exempt from emissions. Yup, my 87 924S with some minor goodes qualified as collectable, no mileage restriction, and a never expiring registration....I did this about 5 years back.
The license plate is black with yellow letters..."CV-####" Let me know if you have any questions on this!
