I have a clicking sound coming from this in idle, cannot find anything in Haynes or Clark’s garage, what is this part? Idle is at 750rpm and I’m trying to raise it so the car won’t stall at stoplights, followed directions with jumper, but can’t get the idle to increase.

thats the cruise control servo...try popping the cable off of the arm or simply unplugging the large round connector at top of your photo.

perhaps the cable is pulling on your throttle pedal when it shouldn't be...

on both of my 84s, that CC unit started clicking and causing problems at idle, I had to unplug it on both. not uncommon
