too low
good morning everyone,
i have an 86 944t that i am trying to rebuild/ salvage/ ressurect.....
i noticed that the front is waaaaay too low. no clearance from outer fender to top of the wheel....
as far as i can tell everything is stock on it....could the springs have lost their strength? can i just buy the springs? i prefer a stock ride height, or it can be lower but not this darn low.
thanks in advance for your advise....

Yes that is too low, someone has messed with that suspension as the top mounts are totally out of whack. I’m going to guess that the stock springs have been cut but without seeing with the wheels off, like darwantae951 said, it’s hard to tell what’s been done.

Those are not stock springs, the top mounts have some sort of spacer on them and that sway bar setup is new on me. I guess someone was trying something there, I just don’t know what. Best to get it back to stock and your ride height will be good again. You need springs, top mounts, sway bar mounts and drop links.

Agreed, they are definitely not original springs. There are plenty of guy that part these cars out. Check Pelican and check the classifieds and maybe shoot Lart a message asking if he has a set. How's the rear setup? Has it been tampered with?

got a set from Toran for a good price.
mazdaverx7, the rear is also buggered up....PO has it up high, from what i can tell, the only thing messed with are the eccentric bolts, shouldnt be that hard to set it back down.
i also rebuilt the ps rack while i have it up on jacks.

Glad the rear is an easy fix. Was hoping that the torsion bars weren't messed with. Good idea on rebuilding the rack while you were in there. Can't wait to hear how the car drives following the repairs!

Sounds like you'll have a well sorted 951! You're taking all of the right steps to ensure longevity and make the car beautiful again! Any special option codes on the car and do you know any history of the car?

There's some crazy repainting of the strut top mount hardware... And overspray on the brake fluid level sensor wire... There might be more going on than first meets the eye.
