Default Got a wave from a 911!

A guy in a silver 911 cab pulled up next to me and waved before I could. I waved back and as he pulled away his kids, in the back seat, turned to see my car.

Made my day!

I actually had a similar thing happen to me, although I did say "nice car" first. An older silver haired gentleman in a silver 993. He replied back with some nice comments about mine and we chatted for a couple of minutes while waiting for the light to change. He'd just gotten his out of winter storage (don't know why around here....not that much snow/salt over the whole winter to justify leaving it put up the whole time....sometimes 2 months between enough snow to get any salt on the roads at all), but his car, his choice....was kewl though.

can definitely relate with the 'made my day' part - got a wave from a guy in an older 911 and it had the same effect, such a cool feeling

Hey, for the record, every time I've waved at a 944 owner, I've gotten this puzzled "Do I know this guy?" look. Lots of them are in the hands of non-enthusiasts, I think...

I can't even get a wave when I'm driving the 911!

Effin' ingrates...

Although I do get some responses from other 944 owners when I'm in the 944. A few days ago, I saw some guy in a Ferrari 308 and wished I had been in the 944, so that I could have a "bastard exotic" discussion with him...

All summer i got the wave from a 993 owner every morning driving to work. My most memorable 'wave' was driving thru some twisties and a silver 996 came around the corner towards me and quickly flashed his lights/fogs. LOOKED HOT!
Its sometimes just the timing of the wave, i know personally i snubbed a 951 today cause he caught me off guard. If youre out there Mr. Mint-Green 951 from Wilmington i'm sorry!

Ummmm........

As a 911 owner - I always wave.... However, about 20% of the time, I don't get a wave back from a 944/951 owner.....

When I'm in my 914-6 (flared) - I always wave. Then, about 80% of the time I don't get a wave back from a 944/951 owner.....

However - it could be worse - when I'm in either the 911 or 914-6 - about 95% of the time - I don't get a wave back from a Boxster owner....???

BUT - It could be better - when I'm in either the 911 or 914-6 - about 100% of the time - I DO get a wave back from a Cayenne owner....??? Fact - I got a HUGE THUMBS UP last weekend from a Cayenne owner as he and I headed down the highway at almost legal speeds....

Go figure????

My point is - wave - unless you are too busy shifting or sumthing...

Haven't had the wave yet. Hardly ever see other Porsches, especially in the winter. What I do get a lot of is comments about how expensive the car must be. Folks get pretty intimidated.

Wish they could see me in my garage, covered in grease at 1:30AM.

I read an article in Men's Health or GQ or something once that said it was always a bad career move to drive something nicer than your boss. I always thought that was bull, but there isn't a DAY when my boss doesn't comment on my cars, despite his new Chrysler minivan costing more than both of mine put together.
