you wave or flash at me and if i haven't already waved, you'll get a flash consisting of the fogs and the driving lights - courtesy of iceshark....
i hardly ever get any sort of acknowledgement from any other porsche down here - amazing. i'll keep tryin' tho...

On my car, if you pull the high beam stock, the fog lights come on as well, so if the lights arent up, you at least get the fogs.

I usually wave at 944 owners, but when I see a rich guy in a new 911 or 993 or whatever, I just try to ignore them, seems every time I look at them they try to race me, they must be having a mid-life crisis or something.

I keep seeing this same 944 around, and every time I say 'shoot, I should have waved', so finally, one day I'm beside him, and I wave, and the guy gives me the finger. I'm through with waving.

I drive with parking and fog lights on 100% of the time, habit i was taught for visibility issues. So for the "flash" i just flick my fog light switch (which i wish was about 3 inches to the left on the dash, but oh well).

believe it or not, I get a lot of compliments from non porsche drivers. I don't nkow why, but it's mainly from african americans. I've gotten more compliments from african americans than from any other people.... Other Porsche owners, forget it, I always wave and never get one back...

Next time you see it take a closer look, it may be a kit car. It's been known to happen.

As Rich put it, when you see a cluster of 15 cars the exact same as yours... Why not get out and see whats up, or at least WAVE.
Well here's a personal story that may help explain it... My wife has an employee (actually a friend she's known for years) who drives an n/a 944. The only reason she drives it is because her husband doesn't want to risk anything hapenning to it at work, so he gives it to her to drive while he drives his pickup truck. The guy is a landscaper, doesn't make that much money but he bought the 944 new and is keeping it till the grave.

Anyway, the wife doesn't particularly know too much about the car or wave to other owners or anything... To her, it's probably no different than a Civic.

At least on the 951 when you flash the high beams your fogs will light up. Very good idea, I wish my TA did that.

I wave/flash all the time at all P cars mostly at the 944 series cause thats where my heart is as it was my first Porsche. You guy's/gals are the core of the line of P cars and keep the rest on their toes.

There's a young guy with a 944 Turbo in my neighbourhood that I wave to all of the time... so far, he's only returned my wave with a blank stare. Doesn't he realize how lucky he is that a 911 driver (me) is actually acknowledging him?!?

My older brother drives a 911 cab and he's a knuckle-head!!!

I try not to let that influence my perception of other 911'ers

One of the coolest moments in my Porsche life took place in Boca Raton FL in 1990. At that time I was driving my 1979 924, the old girl was pretty beat and me being a student did not have too much funds available to keep her in top shape. So the catalyst was rusted and had a couple of holes which made the car rumble and back fire a lot. To be honest I really liked it so i did not mind it much. Going down Palmetto RD towards my apartment a Gemballa Avalanche 911 turbo pass me slowly on my right. I hear the thunder of the flat six I turn my head and the guy smiles and gives me a wave and a thumbs up! I was like WOW how cool is this!!! I remember the 3 on each side exchaust tips and that incredible sound... The car must have been brand new and cost an arm and a leg, still this guy agnowledged an old, beat 924...
Since then I always wave to other P-cars, I must say i rarely get a wave back from new 996 or Boxster owners who most look at me puzzled! I think it comes down to the fact that not many Porsche owners , especially new ones, are the kind of enthousiasts we are or don't even know about the wave...
Lets keep the wave alive! It might make the day to some other 19 year old broke student with big Porsche dreams
