Koni rear shock questions: foam cylinder and white plastic split washer

KLA used to make a simple spherical non adjustable replacement for the factory piece.
Search Paragon for KLA strut mount, I know I still saw them there not long ago.
I have a pair of used ones for $100 or I can take a measurement or two that might not display at Paragon if you need to know some specific dimension.

I hope you're still out there 951and944S, my car is on the lift and dismantled. Can't put it together without a camber plate or strut mount. I'd really like to get those plates from you. Please ping me as soon as you see this because I need to get some kind of solution on its way to me.
In case I don't hear back, does anyone else know of a solution that works with the factory springs and doesn't cost $900?
cheers,

The late factory mounts are really good mounts, well designed, improved on the early design and they last a long time. If I were you I would contact some of the breakers on this forum for a good used set, there must be plenty about at less that 1/2 price of new ones.

MAGK944,
do you know the names of some of those wrecking yards, so I can call around? I've seen Plyhammer (?) mentioned here, but he seems to specialize in the early cars. I saw two pairs of used factory mounts on eBay, but both look worse than what I'm removing. There's 20th street, but they're not open until Monday. Know of any others to check?
944online doesn't have them. Just put in a RFQ to PartsHeaven.

Awesome. Thank you. I just started scrubbing my driver's side mount with Simple Green to get the crusted grease/dirt off and have a look at the bearing and I made a discovery. The bearing is not molded-in but actually sits in a sheetmetal cup with a couple of fingers pressed-over it to hold it in place. I cleaned it out and tried to bend the fingers with no luck, so I brought it over to the press and pushed it out. It is a *** 562300 bearing and the seal on one side looks like it has melted and fused to the *****, bearing is seized tight and you can see the damage on the old strut shaft from where it was turning against the seal. Not sure how that could have happened, but it did. The bearing is ungodly expensive (for a bearing) at $102, but it looks like I may just be able to swap the bearings in my existing mounts which would be loads cheaper than the alternative and wouldn't come with the same compromises as a camber plate.

I'm going to pop off the other side and see how bad that one is. I'll post pics when I have less grease on my hands. Picture added, notice the old bump stop vs. the new one:

I think you’ll find it was held in place by six sections peened from the sheet metal that holds the bearing. You might be able to find a superior ceramic bearing to replace that old school *** bearing and it may also be a cheaper option as well as being better quality. You could also probably peen the new bearing back in using the metal adjacent to the old peened metal.

The seal on one side was fine and came out intact. The melted one needed to be removed one speck at a time with a pick. Once the bad seal was off, the bearing turned freely, but it had crud in it. I soaked it in gasoline and it came out clean and turns fine. I may be able to complete this job for the cost of a couple of bearing seals.
