How Many 944 S2 Were Built?
#2
Its more than that. About 1300 or so coupes came here over the 3 years, with the # of cabs being a bit more than that. A bunch more worldwide though. I forgot what site it was that listed the build numbers for all the models.

The limited production of these cars is something every one should keep in mind when they turn the key in the ignition.
Just compare the number with other sports cars for those years.

I like those numbers. Im #108 of 510. Its a strange feeling of exclusivity amongst the sea of 944s. Ive only seen 2 other 1991 coupes on the road besides mine.

If you're talking rare, don't forget the Stuttgart-built S2s. Only the last 130 coupes and 419 cabs were built there (all Euro spec - sorry guys)
While I'm here - Tony, check out your car's transatlantic sister. Opened the curtains one morning last week and there she was, right outside my house!

Last 4 numbers of the vin is your serial number for your build year. So mine is a 1991, serial number 0108. For 91 cars, i assume that number only reaches 0510. (US)
Hey! Thanks for the pic! I am really interested in one day trying to find the other blue cars. I am aware of one in NJ, and one in the UK. That is NOT the same UK car i have pictures of. That S2 has cup wheels, blacked out turn signals, and a paint to match spoiler. None of which are factory, which leads me to question originality all together. I guess someone could have just added all that and painted the spoiler.
Ok, so we know of 2 Cobalts in the UK, and 2 in the US. Anyone else?

Apparently 1990 is the rarest of the S2 years. From what I hear 1990 was a very low production year for porsche in general. !990 they release less than 400 944S2's into N/A.

Yeah, not many coupes in 1990 either. What ide really love to see is numbers based on color production. How many cars were paint to sample, and what was the count on production colors. I think the rarest color is that Zyclam Pearl Effect. Someone on the board has it, and its the only one ive ever heard of.
