Removing The Roof from 944
What structural differences did the convertible 944 have that allowed the roof delete?
Is a rollcage going to be sufficient to replace the structure the roof provided in an early 944?

There are several reinforcements the cabrio had to strengthen the chassis. PET has pages designated to just reinforcements. On a quick search, here are two of them. It isn't complete though...
The cabrio also has an inner reinforcement in the rocker panels just like the Beetle and Karmann Ghia convertibles. Someone posted pics of the rocker reinforcement not too long ago from a cabrio they parted. Search and you can find them.

the floor of the cab is double-boxed vs having a single layer of stamped sheet metal + ribs.
it's like an inch thick, seriously beefy and stiff.
i think you'd have mostly the same stiffness if you could attach the cage from the base of the windshield back to the "C pillar" location just like a roof.
