Hello Group,
Just got my membership and access. I am also interested in the Guru system. I know a very good mechanic who has tried 2 sets of of the stage 2 chips, the first would not allow the car to start, was replaced with the second and it will not let the car start. It is making me wonder about their quality.
Anyway glad to be on the list.

Who made the chips you had difficulties with?

I have the chip upgrade with the chips, reli-boost and shims for the wastegate. I haven't put in the shims for the car, so just the chips and reli-boost, YOU CAN FEEL THE POWER! Every gear is much faster and pulls much harder. One way to really test the power is to go out on the highway before you do the upgrade and see how long it takes you to go from like 40 to 80 in fourth, measure the time. THen do it with the chip upgrade and reli-boost in the car. I put the chip in then waited to put the reli-boost in, with just the chip you feel a little more power, but when you put in the reli-boost you can feel that power come alive.

If the car would not start after installing chips, they were most likely put in backwards (either one or both). The chips have a notch in one end for aligning with the board. Hard to notice and if someone hadn't told you, you'd probably miss it. It's possible the chips themselves were defective, although unlikely.

I don't know for sure. Just GURU stage 2. I will see him next Tue. and ask. I want to put a system in mine (87 951) but I'm holding off till he finds the problem.

I had a problem w/ my Guru chips on my first try too. It seemed to be a bad KLR chip as Dan sent me a replacement KLR and it worked, but I just dont know if that's the case. When I bought my '87, I was running Steve R chips in my '86 and just switched the boxes over and had a no-start issue. I put the boxes back in the '86 and it started no problem. (?) I've never figured it out why it did that, but both cars run on Guru chips fine now - at least the '87 did before I tore it down.

If anyone is interested, I have a set of guru chips for sale. Will fit 86&87 cars. They work perfectly. Comes with chips, 3.0 bar FPR, and wastegate shims. Reliaboost ($35) is not included. Best offer over $165 takes them home. I can ship them out on Monday so there is no need to wait forever from guru.

They are good chips, if you can't notice a difference between stock and guru-ed 15-psi 951 you need medication Seriously, I had decent chips in my car previously, and there was still a good boost in power after the change... it's even audible, call me mad but I say the aggressive timing really gives a nice sound to the engine

Danno's "guru" chips are awesome - you see improvement everywhere without degrading fuel milage.

One reservation I had was with shipping, but now Danno's back from walkabout things should be better.

Go to www.gururacing.net for lots of good info. No association, just a happy customer.
