As for the race car , i already have two complete $500.00 engines which i will be tearing down over the Winter in order to build
a solid "stock " race engine for next season !

I'll send you some pics of my build as it progresses, but you'll have to keep it secret ... lol
Anyhow, i'm glad you're fine !
So true!

It sounds like your car will find its back on the track then? WOOHOO!

Good luck with the 944 build, I hope you get it running soon.
Big M,

True I had gotten the car operational. Morning driving with the 1978 924:
Though since this vid, the steering was too stiff to comfortably drive and there were other lingering issues I inherited with Gramps that I didn't have the patience to continue working on. It had well surpassed the attention I wanted to spend on it for the amount of money I had in it. The gentleman who bought it is no longer in touch.

Like you suggested, 1 for rougher off road and one for on road. I have since determined the type of rally driving and exploring I wish to do and will probably buy a great handling SUV/crossover or perhaps a Subaru for that. Wilson will be a 4 season road going car and occasional track car... hunting down Corvettes & Mustangs...

Nice, I got myself a Touareg for my gravel and off road needs and keeping the turbocharged 924s for spring, summer and fall road going adventures.
Thanks for posting up Gramps, it looks like it drove well and you didn't push it. Wish I had a 924 NA to beat on gravel roads.

It's funny how they knock the interior as looking dated at the time. 30 years later it's aged very well.

With the cage now built I am sorting out the driver seat mounting details.

Make sure those welds are penetrating the material properly all around. You don't want one disconnecting in a crash.
I miss driving my 924s as well.

After careful consideration I've determined the route to attempt is:
semi-fixed seat mounts using the oem late floor board bolt holes. Then making the pedals adjustable and customizing the steering depth & shifter. Humble beginnings.

Essentially I'm basing the design on: https://www.sparcousa.com/product/side-mount-steel
But since these are bottom mounts seats it'll conform to the bottom mount design.

25mm rear torsions on 'Eva'. 3/4" front sway, a drop and fresh driveline/brakes helped what you might call 'handling'.

The 1/8" thick steel seems ideal. Did some mocking up. Totally happy with this process so far. The bolt patterns are perfectly compatible (16" Porsche width vs 13.5" Sparco bottom mount width). I'll have enough room for washers & sockets when installing seat to car.

Now this is driving! Half the rally was with a flat tire too.

Selling Gramps paid for a racing simulator (gaming) setup. I have a PS4 with Logitech G29 feedback wheel, stick or paddles & 3 pedal box and one 55" screen. The chair is a 1988 Recaro in Studio Cloth. It's a simple set up but it gives me pleasure to drive at the limit.

One of the most realistic driving games is called Project Cars. I absolutely fell in love with this car and had a great time driving at Willow Springs Horse Thief Mile last night. This car is quite incredible, check it out:
