Default Question about Child Car seat again

Is it ok to secure a toddler child seat to the front seats instead of the back?
Isnt the reason why the child seat needs to be back there because of front passenger aibags? Since my 944 does not have an airbag, can I put my forward facing car seat in front instead? I searched the NHTSA website and did not give me this answer. Anyone have their child seat upfront?

I was told it's OK in some cases, I think a non-airbag car with inertia reel lapbelts in the rear would be one of the cases. Laws vary from state to state, check at the state level instead of national (NHTSA).
