Cruise Control Computer - Where?

Any idea where the cruise control computer is on an early 944? I heard it was in the left kick panel, presumably above or behind the hood release. I was also told it was underneath the center console. My cruise will "catch" when I set the speed, but it dis-engages as soon as I release the set switch. I'm guessing I need a new computer rather than the servo under the hood. Thanks.

The CC brain is just forward of the radio on the center console. Access is from drivers side, under dash remove (if its still there) access cover that attaches to the side of center console, remove 2 screws, pull brain out a little, and detach the electrical plug on top of it, pull it out the rest of the way. Real easy, out in just a few minutes.
Have you seen Clarks garage regarding CC problems? Theres also a good diagnostic check in FSM for it. I just did the cleanup and check on servo. I"m sure my CC control box is toast also. Good luck!
